Steps to Reproduce:
Create a Dynamic web project, 
- on the Deployment Descriptor, right click New Servlet, put a name, click finish
- the Deployment Descriptor disappeared from Project Explorer view, I see the web.xml but not the Deployment Descriptor.

Assigning to Kaloyan for the initial investigation.  I believe this is related to the other merged model work that your team has been working on.

I cannot reproduce the bug with latest WTP build from 6th of January. (3.2.3)
