Description

Reassigning to Nick since he is taking ownership of this component. Reassigning bugs in component areas that are changing ownership. Moving bugs to new Platform/IDE component. If I attempt to create a linked resource to an undefined path variable, it actually makes a link that points at the root of the file system (e.g. if I try to create "somefile.txt" under undefined path variable "Abba" the link points at "/Abba/somefile.txt"), so effectively this bug is invalid. However, if the variable exists, but the directory it points to does not, then the (non-existant) linked resource *is* made through the variable. If you then go in and create the directory and a file with a name that matches, the file will be found (e.g. you can double click and open an editor), but the decoration isn't updated. One workaround I found is to go into the "Label Decorations" preference pane and disable then re-enable the Linked Resources decorations. This is low priority for us, if someone wants to work on it, we would take a patch. See bug 63782 - Core Resources does not generate any events when a linked resource that used to exist does not point to anything anymore, or vice versa. Oleg is now responsible for watching bugs in the [LinkedResources] component area. This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant. As such, we're closing this bug. If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it and reopen this bug.
