There is no documentation describing how Jetty loads up classes and how to differentiate between classes seen only by the server, those shared by the server and apps, and those seen only by the apps.

There is documentation for Jetty 6 (http://docs.codehaus.org/display/JETTY/Classloading) that describes some of this but even it isn't clear if exactly how to add jars to the "system" vs "server" classpaths.
