Description Chris Goldthorpe CLA 2010-11-17 12:29:07 EST
+++ This bug was initially created as a clone of Bug #248986 +++

Currently the Eclipse SDK/Platform uses these two bundles from Lucene

org.apache.lucene version 1.9.1
org.apache.lucene.analysis version 1.9.1

This bug is a request to replace these two bundles with the following three bundles for Eclipse 3.7 and 4.1 and update the features accordingly.

org.apache.lucene version 2.9.1
org.apache.lucene.core version 2.9.1
org.apache.lucene.analysis version 2.9.1

CQ4637 and CQ4638 are the CQs (approved) which cover the use of Lucene in the platform

Fixed in N20101117-2000.
Comment 6 Alexander Kurtakov CLA 2010-11-18 12:45:59 EST
Why 2.9.1 when 2.9.3 is out for 6 months and it is closer to Lucene 3 API?
Comment 7 Chris Goldthorpe CLA 2010-11-18 13:19:31 EST
Because 2.9.1 is already in Orbit and so we don't have to start the IP process from scratch. There is still plenty time to upgrade to 2.9.3 ( or 2.9.4 if it became available in time ) in the 3.7 cycle if there is a good case for doing so. Please open a new bug if 2.9.3 is important to you.
