Description mahe86 CLA 2010-11-08 04:02:39 EST
Build Identifier: 20100917-0705

I wanted to add an apache tomcat server to my eclipse in order to run some web applications but for some reason the list usually featuring all the diffent kinds of servers is completely empty.
I have got the Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_22-b04-307-10M3261) installed (in case that this info is of any use).

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.New
2.Server
3.Define a server -> list is empty

mahe86, judging by your build identifier, you have Eclipse 3.6.1. Can you please verify that that is the case? Any further information on your configuration would also be useful.

Are there any errors in the .log of the workspace?

Hello,
thanks for your reply.
It is indeed version 3.6.1. I just downloaded the most recent SDK for MacOS X.
As it's been installed recently it hasn't got much additional software installed. Apart of eclipse SDK I added all the components for vaadin.

If there is anything else you might need to know, please tell me.

eclipse log with errors

Yes, there are some errors in the log. Apparently eclipse cannot find/load certain features. I attached the log so you can have a look at it yourself.

From the .log I can't see much that went wrong. The errors all seem related to http://geronimo.apache.org/devtools/ not having the right information.

Perhaps we need to look at what specifically did you download?
Did you downloaded: Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers
From: http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/

I downloaded Eclipse Classic 3.6.1 from eclipse.org
But I tried quite a number of different eclipse versions, none of them worked....

Hmm. I am still very confused, we don't include the servers view in that package, so I am not sure what configuration is eclipse using.

I am pretty sure this is just a configuration problem and not a real defect. I don't have a mac at hand, and it is a bit hard to get one around here. It might take me sometime to recreate the problem.

Perhaps it would be best to go back to the drawing board and set everything up again.

Into a new directory download and run 'Eclipse IDE for Java EE Developers', and see if that gets you going.

I am closing this for now as invalid as I think the problem lies in the configuration and there is no actual bug in here. Feel free to reopen if you feel there is a bug otherwise it might be best to use the newsgroups to resolve your problem.

I'm going to try the version you recommended. Thank you very much for your efforts. Let's hope it'll come right......
