I created a database design project using RSA for WebSphere 7.5.5. Then
I created a physical data model using PostgreSQL as database. I could
able to add a table to the diagram but nothing was happening while I
was trying to add a column to the table.I tried both ways by right
clicking the table->Add data object -> column and from the properties
view. But no difference. Please refer the screen-shots attached.

As per IBM comment :

Constellation does not provide support for PostgreSQL.

Instead, PostgreSQL options are coming from the open source Eclipse Data Tools Project (DTP), which is shipped as part of IBM's packaging of Eclipse. Consumers of DTP, such as Rational and Data Studio, are free to use all or any components that are part of DTP. For example, it looks like Rational has chosen to ship with PostgreSQL, while Data Studio has not.

There is no current plan to start supporting PostgreSQL in Constellation - Data Tools.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. create a data design project for PostgreSQL db in RSA 755
2. create a Table and column object it.
3. It thrws null pointer exception.

Well, we'd love to help out but the PostgreSQL support that's currently in DTP was created by someone no longer on the DTP team. If you know anyone who can take a look at the current implementation and provide some patches, that would be great. Unfortunately we simply don't have the Postgres knowledge.

It would also help if you could create this in a plain Eclipse + DTP environment and attach the exceptions you're seeing. I don't know what RSA 755 is.

RSA is IBM Rational Software Architect. I've contacted Thamizhchelvan directly.

Should we close this? Or do you need anything from the PostgreSQL enablement side to be done? Many thanks.
Comment 4 Brian Payton CLA 2012-05-16 19:23:29 EDT
I think we can go ahead and resolve this as WONTFIX. This is an IBM internal product issue.
