Description Mike Fox CLA 2010-10-19 10:24:20 EDT
The Outline view shows everything in the report, which can make it hard to identify the object hierarchy leading to a selected object in the report. This enhancement would optionally filter the view contents to show only the direct path from "Body" to the selected object. Therefore, by clicking on an object in the report editor, the view would show only those objects in the direct path to that object. That would enable you to easily identify the hierarchy and work on any object in that hierarchy.

This doesn't have to be implemented as described. However, the Outline view already does everything needed, so there is probably no need to create another view. A filter is one option, but any other breadcrumb technique would be fine.

Other reporting systems have this and it is very useful.

Create a breadcrumb view for birt designer.

The problem was resolved, currently using breadcrumb view you can navigate to any desire element in a report
Comment 3 Galina Derenshteyn CLA 2011-01-25 17:43:08 EST
The problem is resolved. Now the breadcrumb represents a path from current selected report item to the report body.
