This seems to be a regression of the fix for bug 303999. Steps to reproduce the problem:
1. Establish a connection
2. Drill down Data Source Explorer to the parent node of tables. Right click on it select "Properties"
3. On the "Connection Filter Properties" dialog, construct a filter such as Name starts with ...
4. Click OK on the dialog. 
5. Notice the data source explorer doesn't refresh. You have to explicitly refresh it to see the effect of the filter.

I think this is a regression caused by fix for bug https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=303999

Brian (Payton)... For bug 303999 were both patches applied? I'm trying to track this down...
