Description Dani Megert CLA 2010-10-12 04:16:36 EDT
I20101007-1949.

I see a new label "Editor Area" over the editor area. This is a waste of space and confusing, now that I can drag editors out of the "editor area" and group them together again outside the "editor area".

+1

I wonder if it really comes across as a ui-affordance ? ;)

I was wondering if it makes sense to even call a particular part-stack as the editor area. The editor-area is central to the concept of perspectives in 3.x, and it seemed to fit well because the area was meant for editors only ;).

Now that editors and views can be mixed easily, I was wondering if one could do something like a gridlayout ;). Maybe default being 3x3, with a particular stack - numbered k of N - occupying 2x2 ... just speculating ;). Not that I personally want it so bad , but I have come across several RCPs requesting similar layouting features. Some even wanted perspective-change-listeners and the likes - just thought I could share some here.

We should either clear the label or rename it to "Shared Area" or something. The 'Minimize' button should also be turned off since it does nothing at the moment.

Marking this as a DUP since the other defect covers not only this scenario but polishing this feature in other ways as well.
