Description Bryan Hunt CLA 2010-10-06 10:36:22 EDT
The ECF P2 repository included in Helios does not include the ECF source which makes debugging ECF painful. I'd really like to see the SDK be included in the Indigo repository.

/home/data/httpd/download.eclipse.org/rt/ecf/3.3Test/helios/site.p2 contains .source bundles. Maybe something is broken inside the Helios b3 aggr model?

This seems to me the likely explanation. I guess filing additional bug (or moving this one) against Helios releng (however that's done) is in order. I frequently interact with David W via the cross-projects list...so maybe a posting to that list would be the fastest way to get this addressed (as David W is in charge of the aggregator, I think).

But first I should ask Bryan just to clarify...how did you get a) Eclipse; b) ECF SDK. I'm assuming from your note that both were retrieved from the Helios aggregate repository...is that right?

Scott,

I download Eclipse, unzip it, and add it to my target platform. I then use P2 / PDE to add ECF from the Helios repository to my target platform. I suppose I could use your ZIP repository instead.

Well, if the Helios aggregator is not getting/including the ECF source then that's a problem, but we'll have to work with the Helios folks (like David W) to figure out what's going wrong. I didn't even realize that the Helios aggregator was failing to get the ECF SDK source code...as it used to include it just fine. Perhaps something has gone wrong for the Helios SR1 build (as I'm pretty sure everything was there in Helios main release). So we'll follow up to see what's going on/wrong there.

In the mean time, you should be able to use either the online ECF p2 repository, or the zipped ECF p2 repository made available on the ECF downloads page: http://www.eclipse.org/ecf/downloads.php

These *do* include all the source (and, in fact, the same content was made available to the Helios aggregator, so I expected that the Helios repo was ok).

Resolved long ago.
