The flat list is not handful with with long list.It would be better to check commits by folder and options to display only added, updated or deleted files

Note that the "Git Staging" view now allows to show the files as a tree, see http://wiki.eclipse.org/EGit/New_and_Noteworthy/3.1#Staging_View

The Staging view is the preferred way to commit, and the "Commit..." context menu by default opens the staging view for quite some time.
