Description
Anne Jacko
Hi -- need some help setting up submissions for ECon 2011. I tried setting up a test conference -- twice. Here's what happened. I set the conference identifier to test2011. I set the dates, etc. Then I clicked on "go to your new conference." It went to this URL: https://www.eclipsecon.org/submissions/test2011/ese2009/ese2009/ese2009/ese2009/ese2009/ese2009/ese2009/ese2009/ese2009/ **** where it returned this error: Internal Server Error The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request. Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@eclipse.org and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error. More information about this error may be available in the server error log. **** Thanks. You set up the conference, and created the conferences/test2011 directory in CVS .. but forgot to deploy it. I've patched external_entry_point to make this more obvious, rather than try to redirect to a static conference (such as ese2009). http://dev.eclipse.org/viewcvs/index.cgi/org.eclipse.dash/submissions/classes/external_entry_point.php?root=Technology_Project&r1=1.36&r2=1.37 Here is a sample error: https://www.eclipsecon.org/submissions/test2010/ Much better error message -- thank you. How do I deploy the conference directory? At this URL? https://www.eclipsecon.org/deploy/ It's not at all clear to me when I need to deploy stuff. Normally I do it whenever I *think* it might be necessary, since it can't hurt. But I guess it didn't occur to me when I was doing this. Anyway, test2011 is now started. I'm going to try to do all the various things to get it working by looking at the documentation and the code, and I'll update this bug when I have a problem -- notice I said "when" and not "if" :-). Denis, I don't know how to make myself Conference Chair for test2011. Until I have that power, I don't think I can do anything else. Is this something that you have to set for me -- in a table somewhere? Thanks. The 'highest' role in the people_roles table is conference_chair .. I have granted you that. You may be able to give yourself queen privileges with that role. Thanks. I'm seeing all the button options when I log in now.
When I first went to the Conf Chair page, it showed this error message under the Category setup area:
Warning: Invalid argument supplied for foreach() in /home/apps/submissions/org.eclipse.dash/submissions/conference_chair.php on line 115
But after I set up one category, the error message went away.
Denis, two new questions re setup. 1. Difficulty levels For ECon 2010 submitters chose a Difficulty level for each submissions (these corresponded to the "ski-run" ratings.) We didn't do this for ESE 2010. The ECon 2011 program committee would like to use these, but I don't see how to configure the sub sys to include these. Couldn't find anything in the code either. You can see the option to choose the Difficulty level on this page: https://www.eclipsecon.org/submissions/2010/edit_talk.php 2. CKeditor When setting up the conference you can choose to turn on the CKeditor or not. We did this for ECon 2010, but not for ESE 2010. Do you have an opinion on whether this is a good idea? We certainly had a lot of weird characters etc. displayed on the website in the ESE 2010 abstracts, bios, etc. that perhaps might not have been there if submitters had used the CKeditor, but then again, perhaps the CKeditor would lead to other problems? Thanks. (In reply to comment #7) > Denis, two new questions re setup. > > 1. Difficulty levels mysql> desc submissions; +----------------------+--------------+------+-----+---------+----------------+ | Field | Type | Null | Key | Default | Extra | +----------------------+--------------+------+-----+---------+----------------+ [snip] | _difficulty | varchar(100) | YES | MUL | NULL | | The field is there in the table ... but I'm not sure what needs to be done to enable it in the sub system. I'll keep looking. There is a table called submission_difficulties. I used this query to populate the list for test2011 from the same values as Econ 2010: insert into submission_difficulties select null, 12, difficulty, imgpath, rank from submission_difficulties where conference_id = 5; Let me know if you want the same values for Econ 2011.

Yes, please, that would be wonderful! Thanks.
They look perfect as implemented in test2011.
Done. And they are gorgeous, those little ski-run icons. Thanks. This is done. |
