Eclipse text editors support concurrent editing of the very same document (Open an arbitrary text file with the text editor and choose New editor on the editor-tab). Xtext editors do not support this "concurrent editing".

There is no workaround that I'm aware of. You'd have to reimplement a huge part of the document infrastructure on top of Eclipse's buffer concept.

Unfortunately no concrete plans right now
