To Reproduce:

Right-click a large remote project in Project Explorer and chose Index -> Rebuild.

While the indexing is taking place kill the running server.

You will notice that the Progress indicator will still say "Indexing: x/y sources....".

It should indicate the there has been disconnect instead.

Fixed in ptp_4_0 and HEAD.
