Description John Arthorne CLA 2010-09-22 13:24:41 EDT
We will provide support for using Webkit as the embedded browser in Eclipse when running on Windows. Note that the Eclipse platform will not distribute Webkit, but will provide bindings so that it can be used within Eclipse and SWT when available. [SWT]

This is great news! To clarify, will the SWT WebKit support be available in RCP applications, or just in the Eclipse IDE?

It would be part of the SWT bundle, which is included in both RCP and Platform (IDE). Note that Eclipse won't be distributing Webkit itself - it will just have code to connect to a Webkit that is already installed on the user's machine.

Glad to hear that. Can this be back-ported to the 3.6 stream? Are there technical hurdles to doing that or it's just a priority thing? Thanks!
