As an RCP developer, I strongly agree with Doug Schaefer (see http://cdtdoug.blogspot.com/2010/02/ok-eclipse-you-have-3-seconds.html) that start up performance is important. Eclipse 4 RCP startup should not be slower than Eclipse 3 RCP. Unless this is the case, I would think twice before porting my app to Eclipse 4.

Currently, Eclipse 4 startup *feels* slower to me than 3.x, but I have not done a "face-to-face" comparison.

(I hope to find the time to do some profiling work on this, especially for cold starts.)
