Please provide some screenshots. What versions of GTK+ do you have installed? Created attachment 178491 [details]
Screenshot of install-new-software dialog
Created attachment 178492 [details]
another screenshof of the install-new-software dialog
I uploaded two screenshots showing the problem.
My GTK-Version:
> pkg-config --modversion gtk+-2.0
> 2.20.1
Some more versions of gtk packages:
> pkg-config --modversion gtk-engines-2
> 2.20.0
> pkg-config --modversion gtk+-x11-2.0
> 2.20.1
> pkg-config --modversion gtkmm-2.4
> 2.20.3
If you resize and/or move the dialog around, does the problem go away? (In reply to comment #6) > If you resize and/or move the dialog around, does the problem go away? Resizing and moving doesn't help either. However I just realized that when I select one of the "invisible" items, the details field will show it's name but always version number 0.0.0. (see the second screenshot) Does that give a clue? I have a problem that sound like this, but i'm not sure if it's same bug or another one. In my cases install dialog's list is totally empty (not only the name) but, if i press "select all", i can install all plugin normally. Is it the same for you? I'm using: Linux-Ubuntu10.04 Gnome-2.30.2 GTK-Versione: pkg-config --modversion gtk+-2.0 => 2.20.1 pkg-config --modversion gtk-engines-2 => 2.20.0 pkg-config --modversion gtkmm-2.4 => Not Found I try to use export GDK_NATIVE_WINDOWS=true but nothing. I try to resize window but nothing. When i installed IDE the dialog work right, it was the same even for you? I have the same problem with Eclipse Indigo I try to use export GDK_NATIVE_WINDOWS=true but nothing (In reply to comment #8) my solution to this problem was to delete (backup) dialog_settings.xml: mv [workspace}/org.eclipse.equinox.p2.ui/dialog_settings.xml [workspace}/org.eclipse.equinox.p2.ui/__dialog_settings.xml I discovered this after switching to another workspace where the install dialog behaved normally. Hope this helps. (In reply to comment #10) I had the same problem as Simone: the list with available packages appeared completely empty, but using 'select all' I was able to install software. Resizing or GDK_NATIVE_WINDOWS did not help. The solution to delete dialog_settings.xml solved the problem for me as well. Comparing the old (not working) and new (working) files, I noticed that somehow the AvailableNameColumnWidth and AvailableNameColumnWidth settings were set to 0, explaining the empty dialog. Apparently, this has to do with some corrupted setting, and not an SWT or GTK drawing error. I have the same issue on my linux x86 with KDE 4.4 (gtk+ v. 2.24.4). "Install New Software" always worked before, but after I tried update (Helios) 3.6.0 to 3.6.1 and then to (Indigo) 3.7, it got broken. I did rollback to 3.6.0 (because of PHP Editor issues) but "Install New Software" still not worked. After I found this bug and I did that what was said in comment #10 (Thanx!) with [workspace]/org.eclipse.equinox.p2.ui/dialog_settings.xml file, it works again as before. -- Configuration Details -- Product: Eclipse 1.3.0.20100617-0520 (org.eclipse.epp.package.php.product) Installed Features: org.eclipse.platform 3.6.0.v20100602-9gF78GpqFt6trOGhL60z0oEx3fz-JKNwxPY I also encountered this problem with upgrade from 3.7.1 to 3.7.2 in old workspace. I'm using the Clearlooks GTK Engine, but my Desktop is KDE 4.8.0. Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit. The solution here works excellent! Thanks --> https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=324729#c10 Really old bug report which hasn't been seen in years. Closing. Please reopen if you can reproduce with supported version. |
