In case any object in the diagram is selected, a right click in the background of the diagram will not change the selection and therefore come up with the context menu of the selected object. In contrast to that right-clicking any other object will change the selection and bring up the context menu of the newly selected object.

right click into background (diagram) removes selection.
Therefore, we get the context menu of the diagram if we directly right-click the diagram.

It is questionable if we should really keep this change since it deviates from GEF.
