Given the following property:

   @XmlCDATA
   public void setBio(String bio) {
       this.bio = bio;
   } 

If the following value was set:

    c.setBio("<![CDATA[]]>");

Then the following invalid output would be produced:

    <c><bio><![CDATA[<![CDATA[]]>]]></bio></c>

The output should actually be the following:

    <c><bio><![CDATA[<![CDATA[]]]]><![CDATA[>]]></bio></c>

This is resolved by patches attached to bug 485372
