the commit dialog has a strange line. See screenshot. Iäm using Windows XP and the latest and greatest EGit nightly build.

This is a feature, not a bug ;)

It's a margin was added to help wrapping the commit messages. In the
future, it may be feasible to have preferences for the margin width
and visibility.
From my POV, this should be closed as WONTFIX, sorry Lars.

Ok for me, but I expect that other find this also strange. Setting but to WONTFIX.

I would suggest to adapt the user documentation http://wiki.eclipse.org/EGit/User_Guide to this change. 

We should generally try to always maintain the docu directly after a user relevant change is committed.
