Description Steffen Pingel CLA 2010-08-06 17:39:38 EDT
Local tasks provide a very simple way to manage tasks locally. While the schema, that includes a summary, priority and description, is sufficient for most cases it would sometimes be convenient to have access to features typically found in task repositories such as attachments, comments and searching.

See subtasks for details.

Steffen: Are you thinking of this for 3.6?
Comment 2 Steffen Pingel CLA 2011-03-03 23:06:52 EST
I haven't seen a lot of interest in this feature recently but we should consider it as part of planning.

Just filed a duplicate bug 346375, copying the description here:

Over the last years I am using Mylyn I am wondering all time why the Local task is so limited and different
from the great other connectors, e.g. for Bugzilla (reference implementation) and others.

h1. Steps to create a better local task connector

	1. Copy code of the most complete reference connector, e.g. Bugzilla
	2. Remove all the code for remote access and convert it into local storage
	3. Remove all code related for multi-user operation since the only person changing this task is me
	4. Strip other feature which do not make sense for local tasks...

h1. The result would be a local task connector which

	• supports attachments
	• supports WikiText formatting with preview
	• supports comments (without user name, but with detailed timestamp including date and time)

On top of that there could be a minimal query support which e.g. matches on title, description or
comment content, "has attachment", time range created/last updated/closed etc.

Mylyn has been restructured, and our issue tracking has moved to GitHub [1].

We are closing ~14K Bugzilla issues to give the new team a fresh start. If you feel that this issue is still relevant, please create a new one on GitHub.
