Hi,

I lack this feature very much. Every View ( where it's possible ) should have Quick Search Box, this feature would rapidly speed up development process.

I think that the Eclipse platform should provide some standardized API for this.

Views where I lack this feature at most:
Project Explorer, Problems, Markers, Tasks, Search, Bookmarks, Call hierarchy, Type hierarchy, etc.

Very good example how it should look like is Mylyn's Task List View.

The other thing is, that every project could extend this e.g. by adding some filters, again very good example in Mylyn's Task List View beside ( right of the ) Quick Search Box.

May be able to tie this into the new common search bar in 4.0.

IMHO this would be the best solution. The new search should provide Parts the possibility to plug themselves into our generic search field

I saw new Quick search in 4.0 and I don't know if it's the best solution to provide data from all Views to this quick search output, there will be too much results and it will be chaotic.

If the user has the freedom to scope the search to a specific provider (like what browsers do) then this shouldn't be an issue.
