This is a problem found in RSE 3.2
The default transfer mode for xml file is xml
1. Create a dstore connection to a zOS host
2. Copy an xml from local drive to zOS host
3. Clear RSE cache
4. Re-open the remote file in the editor
the xml file is un-readable in eclipse but it's readable when log on zOS

Samuel, I don't have access to any z machine right now.  Could you try to reproduce the problem using this patch?
