Generated files should not be kept as regular sources to prevent people randomly edit or patch them. Full regeneration of all generated files should happen when there is a problem with one of them. I won't accept this patch because we can't be sure that someone won't edit some of the files if they are not in an archive. It would have been good if this can be run as part of the build but it's not possible because you need a fully working SDK to regenerate them. (In reply to comment #0) > Please extract eclipse-build-additionalArchs.tar.bz2 (into additionalArchs/) > and eclipse-build-generatedScripts.tar.bz2 (into generatedScripts). This will > make patching and tracking changes possible. The sole reason to have them in archives is to prevent exactly this. |
Created attachment 174539 [details] extract-generated-files.patch Please extract eclipse-build-additionalArchs.tar.bz2 (into additionalArchs/) and eclipse-build-generatedScripts.tar.bz2 (into generatedScripts). This will make patching and tracking changes possible.
