Description Lucas Panjer CLA 2010-07-08 17:08:09 EDT
When switching from Categorized to Scheduled w/o Focus on Workweek it would be nice if the Scheduled view defaulted to have the Today panel already be open.
Comment 1 Steffen Pingel CLA 2010-07-09 23:06:05 EDT
Have you tried using focused mode? It expands all nodes by default.

I am a little hesitant to add special expand rules to the standard mode since it's difficult to come up with rules that are obvious and work for the majority of users without getting in the way. I can see though how expanding the Today bin makes sense since it reveals the tasks relevant for the current work day.

Mik, do you have objections to always expanding Today on first open of the presentation or when focused mode is toggled?
Comment 2 Lucas Panjer CLA 2010-07-12 12:44:54 EDT
Yes, I tend to use focused mode, but sometimes switch back to unfocused scheduled mode.

My main motivation is that it is annoying to require an extra click to open "Today" since this is my most common action in this view. Perhaps this isn't the most common scenario since the view allows rescheduling between all the available buckets.

Gents,

I'm running Mylyn 3.5.1, in Eclipse RCP, Helios SR2 (build 20110218-0911). For me, this bug still exists. When I toggle the "scheduled" button, the accordion is collapsed. I'll open it, click the "categorized" button, and now the categorized accordion is collapsed, too, even though it was open. Then, I'll click back in the scheduled button and the accordion is again collapsed.

The "categorized" accordion will remain open, when I switch from one to the other, if a task is activated. The scheduled view, though, always reverts to being collapsed

Do you have the focus on workweek mode disabled? The only container that should be auto expanded when switching to the scheduled presentation is the Today bin (given that at least one task is scheduled for today).

ah, that was it. This is in a brand-new eclipse install... is that deactive by default?

Thanks, Steffen!

I thought the request was to expand today when switching from categorized to scheduled, but this only expands it when already in scheduled and switching to unfocussed mode.
Comment 10 Lucas Panjer CLA 2011-06-08 12:48:12 EDT
It seems that was the original request. It may make more sense to always open Today when switching to Scheduled View focussed or unfocussed.
Comment 11 Steffen Pingel CLA 2011-06-08 13:18:27 EDT
Right, looks like the implementation is incomplete. Please feel free to file another bug and we can address that in a future version.
Comment 12 Lucas Panjer CLA 2011-06-08 13:29:06 EDT
bug 348783 added for further implementation.
