I've won the lottery. Or I haven't. Now I'm too excited to test this patch. Who would like to get me off of my cloud by pointing out how this change breaks all kinds of things?

Paul didn't find anything out of the ordinary, and reviewed the code. I've put this in HEAD so that we can get it into a build.
