After installing the Eclipse for JavaScript Developers, I attempted to install the Plug-In Development Environment and received an error.  I drilled down to an issue with installing the Java Development Tools.  Here is the error log's text:

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Help --> Install new Software
2.  Choose Helios repository: (Helios - http://download.eclipse.org/releases/helios)
3.  Select Eclipse Java Development Tools
4.  Click Next
5.  Click Finish

This worked fine for me.  I would suggest just trying again.  Servers would be experiencing high loads right.

I tried again (using both the 32 and 64bit versions) with the same results.  Did you install any plugins first, or only the Java Development Tools?

How is this a duplicate of  Bug 290728 (titled: Poor startup performance of org.eclipse.gmf.runtime.emf.core.compatibility)?

This issue doesn't seem to have anything to do with startup.
