This bug is directly related to https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=274554

It happens not only in setCanceled()

I encountered the issue in beginTask()

I think that it would be better to check if statusLineExist everywhere processDelegate is used.

proposed patch

check everywhere that statusline exist before accessing processDelegate
better than look if processDelegate is null?

I try to handle the better I can "cancel" operation by keeping an attribute. Advice for the best way are welcome.

getWindowConfigurer().createStatusLineControl(shell) is *not* called in
WorkbenchWindowAdvisor.createWindowContents().

because we would like to remove the statusline and gain some pixels.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.
