Compare With> Git Index is always grayed out when I have a directory selected. It works with single files however. IMO it would be a great improvement being able to compare whole directories at a time and not having to select every file. The SVN plugin can do this, so I think EGit should be able to as well.

I think this is important.  Currently it's too hard to 'synchronize' and stage changes for commit in the UI.
