Description Eric Nickell CLA 2003-02-07 13:53:27 EST
When I add a library to a project, that jar file shows up at the top level of my
project hierarchy. (This is spite of the fact that the jar file came from a
projcet-local directory which I name "lib".)

I would prefer that those libraries not be virtual elements directly under my
project, but rather placed in a virtual folder. I want the ability to ignore
them, which is what I do 99% of the time. They represent vertial clutter in my
package explorer that I have to scroll past to get to another project.

We implemented this support for library containers, but not for internal Jars.
We should consider this support for internal Jars as well.

Have to postpone > 2.1, since code base has been freezed for 2.1. Only critical
bugs will be fixed.

I am wondering if there is any focus in this 4 year old enhancement request.
I am using Eclipse 3.2.1. This issue has been labeled resolve later
or resolve(d?) later. Therefore I am wondering how much "later" after four years.

I have 15 - 20 jars in each of any projects. The clutter due to the jars is ugly. It should follow Netbeans way where all jars, regardless if they are libraries, jars or external jars, be contained under the "Libraries" category.

Bug 83389 added a 'Referenced Libraries' node (in 3.3 M4)
