1. Open the 'Git Repositories' view.
2. Expand it until you see your local branches.
3. Checkout another branch.
4. The checkmark doesn't move.

Mathis, I'm not sure if that change is relevant to this bug. The problem I'm trying to describe here is that checking out another branch doesn't cause the checkmark to be moved.
