Steps to reproduce:
1. New a library.
2. New a report, add a report variable,use the library.
3. Preview report

Expected result:no exception.

Can you provide details about what changes were made to fix this bug?  I am currently seeing the same issue in 2.5.2 and would like to apply the fix, without having to upgrade to 2.6.1.

If you can access Birt CVS, you can find the change in the history of the class org.eclipse.birt.report.model.util.ReportDesignSerializerImpl. The Revision for this bug fix is 1.8. You can see the details from the difference between 1.7 and 1.8.
