Bug 312237

Summary: [content assist] Content assist accidentally deletes my code
Product: [Eclipse Project] JDT Reporter: Praveen <pinnamur>
Component: TextAssignee: JDT-Text-Inbox <jdt-text-inbox>
Status: CLOSED WONTFIX QA Contact:
Severity: minor

OS: All
Whiteboard: stalebug

Description Praveen CLA 2010-05-10 06:57:42 EDT
Reproducible steps :

1) Write the below line in a Java file :
throw new SWTError()
2) Press Ctrl+Space with the cursor between the braces - for getting the contructors with various args
3) Write 'SWT' (note that content assist still appears instead of turning off) and then, typing '.' deletes my text (SWT) with the content assist still showing various constructors.

The same problem happens with SWTException class as well.

The same happens for normal method completion. What you see is not optimal but expected: you invoked content assist and when selecting the proposal it inserts it.

Like that since day one.
Comment 2 Eclipse Genie CLA 2020-05-01 20:30:28 EDT
This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. As such, we're closing this bug.

If you have further information on the current state of the bug, please add it and reopen this bug. The information can be, for example, that the problem still occurs, that you still want the feature, that more information is needed, or that the bug is (for whatever reason) no longer relevant.
