In order to deal with the new format of requirements, we have introduced the generation attribute in the serialized format of an IU (see test PersistNegation). 
It could be interesting for a repository to have the ability to indicate which generation of IU it wants to persist and the failure behaviour to adopt when an IU of a non supported generation is encountered (e.g dismiss, warn, fail).

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet.
