1. Use the search feature under preferences>General>Web browser
2. Specify /usr/bin as search folder

Expected result : One entry per browser should be created
Actual result : it loops and many entries are created for Firefox and Konqueror

Symlink problem?

That's really odd, I've not seen that before. I would not expect that problem to be caused by symbolic links.

I think so. As we can see in the attachment, some links point toward firefox. I think following one of the link resumes the search or something like this.

I'm pretty sure that this is the same issue reported in Bug 293159 . Closing as duplicate.
