The preferences to change font sizes under General/Appearance/Colors and Fonts are not particularly useful. It is possible to change some of the fonts used in Eclipse, such as the dialog font but there are many parts of Eclipse for which there is no preference, the package explorer and just about every view which shows a tree has a font whose size cannot be changed by a preference. Even if a preference did exist for every font displayed in Eclipse it would be very time consuming to change them all to be a little larger.

With the move in E4 to use more Web like metaphors in our UI we should think about how we could allow the user to change the size of all fonts with a single preference, similar to the way web browsers support a zoom function.

+1 for sure, ran into this issue after getting a new high-res monitor at home.

Chris, are you suggesting that this be done for e4? If so, I'll change the project to reflect this. I'm fairly sure we'd be hard-pressed to do this in the 3.x codebase.

I didn't have a specific timeframe in mind, I expect there would be a lot of work involved but I wanted to put the request out there so it can be considered for the future.

This bug hasn't had any activity in quite some time. Maybe the problem got resolved, was a duplicate of something else, or became less pressing for some reason - or maybe it's still relevant but just hasn't been looked at yet. As such, we're closing this bug.
