* I installed the mixed-mode launching plug-in, that provides alterante launchers for Java applications.
* In the "Run/Debug > Launching > Default Launchers" preference page, I select the "Eclipse JDT Launcher" as the default launcher for run and debug modes. 
* Re-start the workspace, re-open the pref page, there is no default launcher anymore
