On the RAP download page, I found the following sentence under the RAP Runtime SDK heading:

"This contains the RAP runtime, including sources and a simple demo application. Note that this is already included in the RAP Tooling. "

From this, I gather that the simple demo application is supposed to be part of the Tooling download.

I've installed 1.2.1 via the update site. According to its help pages (Getting Started -> RAP Examples), I should be able to just Import Source... from the org.eclipse.rap.demo example. However, this plugin is missing.

It's not found on my platform, and it's not referenced by the feature.xml in org.eclipse.rap.tooling.

Perhaps the documentation should be updated to reflect the missing demo plugin, or perhaps the demo plugin should be included in the tooling feature?

This is on Eclipse 3.5.1 (from eclipse.org), running on Ubuntu 9.10.

Please follow the getting started guide (http://www.eclipse.org/rap/gettingstarted.php) as stated in the RAP Tooling download section.
It will guide you through the steps that are necessary to install the RAP Runtime SDK as your target platform.
After that you will find the demo plug-in in your target platform.
Feel free to re-open if it still doesn't work.
