Description David Carver CLA 2009-11-20 16:12:58 EST
There is a growing need to add some eclipse specific infrastructure related plugins to Hudson. I'm filing this here because I don't think it fits anywhere else, and I could find a spot in DASH to add it.

Particularly the first need is a more advanced and configurable swarm option.

https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=294330

Hudson's slave infrastructure support assumes the SWARM is local, which it may not be. Also, there is a desire by the Foundation to limit the swarm to Tests only. However, Hudson doesn't make that type of distinction, it treates all builds equally.

What else do we need to make Hudson work and play better within the eclipse infrastructure but also allow the community to help out. We had at lest 8 potential machines that were ready to have CPU and disk space donated to helping build the projects. That is a pretty good outreach by the community.

Adding wayne to this as well.
Comment 2 Wayne Beaton CLA 2011-12-22 23:16:16 EST
Moving to CBI for consideration.
Comment 3 Andrea Ross CLA 2012-07-09 21:38:52 EDT
Deferring consideration until CBI 2.0
Comment 4 Frederic Gurr CLA 2017-02-07 10:19:59 EST
There are security concerns about using swarms, see: bug 294330 comment 49.

Since Hudson is not maintained anymore it does not make sense to develop Eclipse specific Hudson plugins. Let's reconsider that once the migration to Jenkins has been done. Until then, I'm setting this to WONTFIX.
