As a user of Eclipse, I would like to provide UDC with as much non-compromising data as possible. As far as I know, the only available filters are on a per-bundle basis. Many of the data items are not associated with *any* bundle and therefore can only be filtered out if you select "Only upload org.eclipse bundles". Examples of such "Kinds" of data are sysinfo and log. Some of the (error) log entries include things like username and cvs server info, and names of projects within Eclipse workspaces.

I don't know what type of filtering would be easiest to implement or most useful to users in general.

Some possibilities:
 * per event basis - be able to "x" out any event in the preview - this gives the user the most control
 * per "What"
 * per "Kind"
 * filter out any "Description" containing a particular word or phrase

I did not find any existing feature requests which overlap this one. I did see one related to filtering out sensitive information, but this was so that it could be filtered out before developers (using the UDC data) could access it. That would require users to trust Eclipse to do the filtering. This request pertains to providing users with control over their own sensitive data.

Benefit: Some users would provide more UDC data if they could better control that data and exclude sensitive information.

Reproducible: Always

The Usage Data Collector was decommissioned a long time ago. Therefore any
remaining bugs are now being closed as WONTFIX. If this bug is still relevant,
please make a comment and we'll move it to the correct project/component for
further investigation.
