Create a new project with New Project > Static Web Project 2. And an HTML page by selecting WebContent, and then New > HTML Page 3. Open with HTML editor 4. Inside the body element type: <!-- (at this point, the comment auto closes) 5. Remove ending --> At this point, an error is flagged "Comment not closed". 6. Type comment and closing --> At this point, the error marker persists. It persists through editing and file save. The only way to clear the error is to close the document and reopen it. I have seen cases where multiple errors are listed, but they normally only occur with more content in the html file.
