To highlight the problem, here's my dev path so far today:

1. Fresh Eclipse Install of Galileo
2. Install of RAP Stable
3. Attempt demo (as per link above)
4. That fails so google problems
5. Find an eclipse support post which says get M1 release as it fixes broken templates.
6. Update to M1 release (stable ?)
7. Attempt demo again, same problems.
8. More googling
9. No joy so give up and try another AJAX environment.

I intend to go through the tutorial myself to see if I can sort out any specific issues. But before I do that, I wonder if this tutorial is really necessary given that there is a template for building a RAP Hello World. Should this tutorial use that template and instead just explain what's been generated?

I am sorry to hear that a potential RAP user failed with the hello world.
We couldn't find an error in the description and even a colleague that isn't familiar with RAP managed to get the thing running with the tutorial.
The tutorial dates back to the very first days of RAP where there was no template. We are about ot replace it with a template-base version.

Please feel free to re-open if there are any issues outstanding.
