The favicon could show up in firefox 3.0.14, but not in IE 6.0 with my testing. 

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
Run the rap workbench demo mit dem branding tea. Getestet with the rap cvs head.

I can't see any favicons in IE6 (in address bar). Navigating to http://java.sun.com doesn't show favicon also. Tested on Windows XP SP3 with IE6.

Searching the web, I found a lot of discussions related to IE6 and missing favicon. The general statement is the IE6 and below does not support favicon in the address bar (at least witout bookmarking the page - which personally have not tested).

I can confirm that bookmarking the page shows the favicon in the address bar too. Resolved as NOT_ECLIPSE.
