When selecting an element in a diagram (for instance an association), the element is not selected in the model explorer which makes it difficult to retrieve it (sometimes the name is not explicit or there are several elements with this name)
This synchronization is fundamental to be able to navigate easily between diagrams and model

Actually this action is available. You need to select the option "Link with Editor" in Model Explorer Menu.
Maybe this one should be selected as default value
