Steps to reproduce:

* Open (and sync) a JIRA issue with Mylyn
* open that issue in browser
* edit description in browser and submit
* go to task editor, and without synchronizing edit the description ( in a different way) and hit Submit

Observer that there will be no collision notification/detection at all, and the description will have the content of whatever you had set in the editor.

As far as I know JIRA does not support collision detection on the repository. Thomas, can you check if this has been reported against the RPC plug-in and file a bug report if not?

Seems like JIRA does not support collision detection in general, this is not limited to the Remote API:

The Mylyn JIRA Connector has moved to Atlassian. All unresolved Mylyn bugs assigned to the JIRA component, which includes this bug, have been copied to https://studio.atlassian.com/browse/PLE and marked as resolved on bugs.eclipse.org.
