Description Dani Megert CLA 2009-08-21 05:48:49 EDT
The portal is not clear when it says "Waiting for candidate paperwork. ". When I read this I assumed that we are still waiting for the candidate to finish the paperwork but she has already submitted it.

The portal should either improve the text or have two entries:
[ ] Waiting for candidate to complete paperwork.
[ ] Waiting for emo to complete candidate's paperwork.
Comment 1 Karl Matthias CLA 2009-08-21 09:36:35 EDT
I have passed this on for review.
Comment 2 Karl Matthias CLA 2009-10-23 18:55:05 EDT
I have now updated the Portal code to show the same status to everyone who has a view on an election that the legal people had before: it will specify exactly which forms have been received and which are awaited. It will also specify who is waiting on whom. Pending release in the next rollout.
Comment 3 Karl Matthias CLA 2009-10-23 18:58:15 EDT
BTW: keep in mind that the Portal doesn't know if actual _paper_ paperwork has been received until someone in EMO legal checks the box. So the Portal can only say it doesn't have the ECECF (Employer consent form) if it has not been told the paperwork has arrived.
Comment 4 Karl Matthias CLA 2009-10-29 19:25:25 EDT
Released or closed for STAGING_324. Please see final comments for actual closure status. This message does not imply that any action was taken that has not already been described.

I'm reopening this one since it's still unclear to me. Current status of an ongoing committer election says (see attached picture):
[ ] Waiting for candidate paperwork
Received NCRF

As initially noted it is still not clear who received the NCRF: is it the EMO or the candidate or the project lead?

" It will also specify who is waiting on whom." from comment 2 is not true.

Also, the doc (http://wiki.eclipse.org/Development_Resources/HOWTO/Nominating_and_Electing_a_New_Committer) says:

(5.2) What paperwork do I need to fill out?
After the Committer election is successful, the portal workflow system will ask the nominating project lead to fill out the New Committer Request Form (affectionately known as the NCRF).

I (project lead) did not get the NCRF to be filled out but the portal says that the NCRF has been received (by whom???).
Comment 6 Wayne Beaton CLA 2010-05-17 20:25:54 EDT
I believe that "Received NCRF" means "generated by the portal and received by the EMO". Sharon and/or Janet, please confirm.

I guessed that too, but in that case the doc (http://wiki.eclipse.org/Development_Resources/HOWTO/Nominating_and_Electing_a_New_Committer)
is wrong and needs an update. Also, the portal should display it as:

[ ] Waiting for candidate paperwork
[x] portal generated and sent NCRF to EMO

If the NCRF is automatically generated and sent then we could just leave it away completely. Rather it should say:

[ ] Waiting for candidate paperwork
[ ] waiting for EMO to review the NCRF

It would also be helpful if the portal would show all the steps at the beginning instead of revealing them one be one like in a puzzle ;-)
Comment 8 Wayne Beaton CLA 2010-05-18 01:49:35 EDT
But puzzles are fun...

Wayne: Confirmed! You are correct.

Thanks,

Can this be clarified in the portal? Seeing an unchecked check box saying "Waiting for candidate paperwork" is just wrong if the EMO already has the papers ;-)

I'd suggest we address this confusion by changing the reference to "Waiting for candidate paperwork" to:

“Committer Paperwork Processing – If you have provided all requested paperwork (see “New Committer Request Form” email), please allow 5 - 7 business days for processing (we’re semi-automated but not fully robotic :-) ). If you have not submitted your paperwork, please do so."

What does everyone think?

I'll effect the change next week.

I like the "robotic" part ;-)
+1.
Comment 15 Sharon Corbett CLA 2011-05-17 09:58:30 EDT
+1 - It will be great to get this change rolled out.

Portal component with explanatory text

Note that I modified Janet's suggested text slightly: I changed the title to "Processing candidate paperwork" and took out the smiley-face.

Does this work?

Changes committed.

Webmaster: can you tag and rollout the fix at your earliest convenience, please?
Comment 21 Eclipse Webmaster CLA 2011-06-22 15:00:05 EDT
Ok these changes should now be live.

Funny character in the output

I missed what I think might be an em-dash in the suggested text (see the attachment). I have committed a fix, that changes the dash to the word "to".
Comment 23 Wayne Beaton CLA 2011-06-24 10:00:22 EDT
Matt, can you re-push?
Comment 24 Eclipse Webmaster CLA 2011-06-24 11:15:45 EDT
Done.
