This works for me in Firefox and Chromium. Note that the selection color overrides cell colors. Works for me too in IE8. Created attachment 144202 [details]

Cannot reproduce this. Maybe I was really tricked by the selection yesterday.
Another thing I just saw is that the background color is not applied to the area where the checkbutton resides.
This works if you set a background color to the whole table.
Just a guess, could this issue be somehow related to labelprovider's background colors that are overridden when TableEditingSupport is activated?
