Description William Reichardt CLA 2009-06-22 19:36:28 EDT
Build ID: 20090611-1022

Steps To Reproduce:
1.Build project & set breakpoints
2.Run project and stop on breakpoints (essentially debug for afew minutes)
3. Now java documents will take forever to open. Opening any file is sluggish and changing contexts can take 30+ seconds.

More information:
I downloaded M4 Galileo and discovered this problem.
Comment 1 Ian Skerrett CLA 2009-06-23 08:23:39 EDT
If I am not mistaken you reported that this occurred in the Java EE RC4 package Build id: 20090611-1022 eclipse-jee-galileo-RC4-macosx-cocoa.
Comment 2 William Reichardt CLA 2009-06-23 09:49:06 EDT
Yes,eclipse-jee-galileo-RC4-macosx-cocoa build 20090611-1022. I did not mention that I am doing my debugging using a tomcat instance started from within Eclipse though, if that helps narrow things down.
Comment 3 Darin Wright CLA 2009-06-23 11:51:10 EDT
What VM/platform is tomcat running on? There are issues when debugging the Mac 1.6 VM.
Comment 4 William Reichardt CLA 2009-06-23 14:57:13 EDT
Sorry, I am using JDK 1.5.0 to run tomcat.
Comment 5 Darin Wright CLA 2009-06-23 15:18:37 EDT
Does the call stack render quickly? Does the IDE remain responsive while source lookup is happening? Is it slow to perform a standard "Open Type..." action?
Comment 6 Jaroslaw Lewandowski CLA 2009-12-16 10:54:56 EST
I'm experiencing slow down of the Eclipse as well... It basically more you're working the slower it becomes. It takes few seconds to switch between tabs, open new class file etc, etc.
Comment 7 Kevin Barnes CLA 2009-12-16 11:02:30 EST
Anything in the error log?
Comment 8 Darin Wright CLA 2009-12-16 11:09:33 EST
I also notice that Mac development is slower and more memory seems to be used. However, I have not tried to track down what it is related to.
Comment 9 Johannes Rieken CLA 2010-05-03 06:06:20 EDT
I am seeing the same. Eclipse become less and less responsive during usage. CPU load goes up to 100% when being idle or on simple redraw operations (like dragging another app window across eclipse).
Comment 10 Pawel Piech CLA 2011-06-07 13:27:06 EDT
Is this still a problem?

I have not seen this issue while testing on our Mac using the 3.7RC's
Comment 12 Pawel Piech CLA 2011-06-07 14:26:07 EDT
So it was last seen a year ago. If comes up again, please reopen.
