Description

No, there is no carbon build available for the EPP packages. We changed this because we think that the majority of users are able to use the new cocoa build and we don't have the resources to build/test both of them. In theory it should be possible (and very easy) to do a build of the package on your local machine. If you were willing to do this I would send you some instructions which are essentially downloading the SDK and running the director application with some magic parameters. Just tell me if you are interested and I'll attach them here or describe the necessary steps in the wiki. *** Bug 277580 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. *** Please see bug 277580, as the lack of a Carbon-based 3.5 package is a critical problem for Adobe's Flex Builder. The shipping version of FB is dependent on the Carbon SWT. What is involved in getting an 'Eclipse for JEE' or 'Eclipse for Java developers' bundle built? Could one be produced for 3.5.1? As you can probably appreciate, testing resources is always an issue for additional platforms. I also know the core EPP team does not have a lot of Mac's available. I think we can do that, but Larry McLister (Flash Builder QE lead) should confirm. He's already cc'd on the bug. The RC2 packages will be built tomorrow. I see Carbon builds on the downloads page... http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/ ...so shouldn't this be FIXED instead of WONTFIX? (In reply to comment #7) > I see Carbon builds on the downloads page... > http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/ > > ...so shouldn't this be FIXED instead of WONTFIX? Indeed it was. Adobe owes the EPP team a belated 'thank you' for getting this done. I am pretty sure next year there will be pressure to optimize the number of Apple platforms. :-) (In reply to comment #9) > Scott, do you know when Adobe is switching to Cocoa? I am pretty sure next > year there will be pressure to optimize the number of Apple platforms. :-) I have a rough idea, but nothing I can announce. We rely on some internally-developed pieces that aren't Cocoa-ready yet, but it's certainly getting there. |
