Bug 277168

Summary: [ui] installer complains of missing dependency instead of installing it
Product: [Eclipse Project] Equinox Reporter: Missing name <soloturn>
Component: p2Assignee: P2 Inbox <equinox.p2-inbox>
Status: RESOLVED DUPLICATE QA Contact:
Severity: normal
Priority: P3 CC: susan
Version: 3.5
Target Milestone: ---
Hardware: All
OS: All
Whiteboard:

Description Missing name CLA 2009-05-20 13:05:31 EDT
Build ID: Build id: I20090430-2300

Steps To Reproduce:
1. add http://m2eclipse.sonatype.org/update-dev/
2. add http://subclipse.tigris.org/update_1.6.x
3. install "maven optional components"
   "maven scm handler for sublicpse"

installer complains that subclipse is not installed, names the dependency. it would be nice if it could take it out of the list it has, and install it.

Did you have the
[x] Contact all update sites during install to find required software

checkbox checked?

I'm going to assume that you did not have the checkbox checked and would have benefitted from some guidance. So I'm marking this as a duplicate of bug 267464, which suggests guiding the user to the checkbox if there is a missing requirement.

If the checkbox was already on, then there's really no other place for us to look, although we could offer to open the site pref page so that the user could enable or add new sites.

Please reopen this bug if bug 267464 doesn't capture the issue.
